CFTC Approves STX as a Regulated Exchange and Clearinghouse for Prediction Market Builders

STX receives Designated Contract Market and Derivatives Clearing Organization designations, opening its platform to U.S. traders and the developers building on it
CHICAGO, Nov. 5, 2026 — STX, a builder-first prediction platform and exchange, today announced that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has approved it as a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and a Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO). The approvals allow STX to operate a regulated exchange in the United States and to clear the trades made on it.
Holding both designations means STX runs the full lifecycle of a trade under federal oversight, from order matching to clearing and settlement. STX was founded to bring institutional-scale infrastructure to event contracts.
On STX, participants trade positions on real-world outcomes directly with one another on an open order book, at prices set by the market. Sports is at the core of the platform, with the broader goal of offering a transparent market wherever people have a view on what happens next.
STX is also built for developers. Its API is live and documented at docs.stxapp.io, with REST and WebSocket access to markets, order entry and portfolio data, plus official TypeScript, Python and C# SDKs. Developers can build against a demo environment today or build apps for STX members through OAuth. Teams that want to launch with STX can apply to the STX Launch Partner Program for direct integration support and early access ahead of the broader U.S. rollout.
STX first launched as a regulated exchange in Ontario, followed by a multi-year process to earn approval in the United States.
